BAB is an Arabic word for gateway. Several gateways built throughout the centuries in Arabic or Persianate societies start with “BAB”, such as the Bab Sharqi of Damascus, Syria. The logo of BAB Global AG shows the Bab Sharqi as a symbol for the gateway into infrastructure.

Martin E. Bachmann Founder & Chairman

Martin has garnered deep international expertise in the Infrastructure, Energy and Water & Environment sector. He has led multidisciplinary teams globally, in Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East, Northern and Southern America. As Member of the Group Executive Committee of Pöyry PLC, a large international Engineering & Consulting firm, Martin had the opportunity to work with great people around the globe, implementing successfully large-scale multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects.

As a visionary leader with proven track record in establishing new businesses and driving business results, Martin is supporting CEO’s and management teams in the development and successful implementation of their strategies, be it as Board Member, shareholder or partner. Martin serves in Non-Executive Boards, Advisory Boards and Investment Committees. He holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.

Starting from June, 2022, Martin serves as CEO of mageba group, a world leading specialist and manufacturer of high-end structural bearings, expansion joints as well as seismic protection and structural health monitoring systems.
